ON THIS PAGE WILL BE FOUND some of the more spectacular Upper Covington Flat photos featuring clouds. The Upper Flat area is at an altitude of 5000ft, hence the deep blue sky when shooting heavenward. We were treated to some fine passing clouds. A beautiful day to be out in the park! Our excursion to this scenic area of Joshua Tree National Park ended with a rather impressive looking lenticular cloud. We stopped at the junction of La Contenta Road and Covington Flats Road to shoot it.
With the Joshua Trees at full bloom, you will note that many are sporting blossoms. I found the 3D results with clouds as background for the trees and hills to be particularly rewarding and delightful to frame. Many other images in 2D and in 3D not included on this page will be found in the Covington Flats and Joshua Tree Superbloom 2016 Galleries.

The silhouetted skeleton is said to have been the tallest, most massive Joshua Tree in the park. It died in the early 2000s and is rapidly decomposing.

A spectacular year for photographing the Joshua trees against the vivid blue skies and wispy white clouds!
