Queen Valley view from Star Wars Rock

Queen Valley view from Star Wars Rock

STARS WARS ROCK is situated west of Perpetual Motion Wall on the same rocky hill and is only a few hundred yards from Geology Tour Road. There is small high valley here which offers detailed inspection of the climbing formation. Further, the locale offers some varied photo opportunities with shots across Queen Valley and nice north-end views of the nearby Diamond Clump formation. (See graphic above.)

The most convenient parking area is Stop 5 opposite Little Europe rock mound. Further down slope, the road widens for adequate parking at Stop 6 below the west end of The Volcano.

Star Wars Rock is easily distinguished by its overhanging south face and the presence of a large split boulder to its south. Rock Climbers have staked out several routes on the side facing the road and along the overhanging face. These are: “Thumbs Down Left,” “Cedric’s Deep Sea Fish Market,” “Light Sabre,” the extremely difficult “Apollo,” plus “The Lemming,” “Through the Hole and Up the Wall,” “Between a Rock and a Hard Place,” and ending with “Two Blind Mice.”

3D Anaglyph Gallery

You are encouraged to download as many of the 3D Anaglyph or 3D Half Side-by-Side photographs as you wish. Note: 3D H-SBS images should be saved only if you have access to a 3D TV. Otherwise viewing them properly will be—like riding a unicycle across the Sahara Desert—somewhat unpleasant.

3D Half Side-by-Side Gallery

Suitable for 3D TV viewing. Half Side-by-Sides avoid the minor Anaglyph anomalies that can occur. Click images to enlarge. 1080p resolution. Or Windows users, right-click and choose SAVE LINK AS.

I appreciate your visiting Joshua Tree 3D. I hope that you enjoy the discussion and how it relates to the various Galleries incorporated in these pages.
